How to Help someone who is giving up Paxil?

My boyfriend decided to give up Paxil as he feel's they are not for him. He has been on 20mg of paxil for over 4 years and decided to slowly lower the dosage as directed and with stand the withdrawal symptoms. How can I help him deal with it? What are some tips that might be useful for me in dealing with someone giving up paxil. It is difficult at time's because he get very easily agitated and take it out on me. Sometimes he become very aggressive to the point that it's overwhelming and damages our relationship. We have been together for 8 years and I'm concern about the damage it might do to our relationship over a period of time. Once he has overcome the drug and the withdrawal symptoms... what is the best course of action? seek counseling. I have no doubt that we are probably going to need to re-train his behavior. Please give me whatever details you have if you are a person who's been through it or a couple who has undergone this process.
