Is it OK for Sarah Palin use the term "lamestream media?" Is that different than using the term "retarded"?

She was horribly offended and demanded an apology from Rahm Emanuel for saying something was "retarded." She said it's because her son has Down's Syndrome. But isn't "lame" offensive to those who are physically disabled?
